The Märklineum Gets Added

Hermann Paule have successfully completed delivery of an historic 100 Tonne heavy steam locomotive across Göppingen.

The Märklineum Gets Added

The BR44 1315 will go on display outside the new Marklineum Museum, due to open to the public in 2019.   The transport of the original steam locomotive from 1942 attracted Märklin and locomotive fans alike who were able to track the transport journey of the steam train as she navigated the tricky approach to her final siting at the Marklin headquarters.

Measuring 5.75m (H) and 3.35m (W), the loaded locomotive which weighed in at 179 Tonnes started her journey Göppingen in Southern Germany, destined for the Marklin main factory.

Through the exceptional preparatory work ahead of the project, and with the continuing support and liaison with the local police the transport project was completed smoothly and to the agreed timescales. With street furniture removals and the dismantling of traffic lights across the route the locomotive safely arrived at its destination.

Arriving on site, the final delicate stage of the project was undertaken.  Delivering the cargo amidst the main and outbuildings of the Museum.  With a maximum of 15cm clearance, access to the company premises was not an easy task, this required Hermann Paule to reverse the loaded vehicle to ensure the locomotive reached her new home late in the evening.
